What is congenital corneal disease?

IN THIS VIDEO I PROVIDE A BRIEF EXPLANATION

Everything you need to know about congenital corneal disease

IN THESE TOGGLES YOU WILL FIND THE DETAILS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR

A gene mutation or inherited eye disease can cause the eye to develop abnormally from birth. There are various forms of these abnormalities that all come under the title of anterior segment developmental anomalies (ASDA).

Mr Hamada is an expert in the diagnosis and management of ASDA. He will examine your child and ask for further investigations before he discusses with you the nature of the condition and possible management options.

Genetic counselling is often necessary as ASDA are rare and extremely difficult to manage.

If your newborn baby has corneal opacities, it may require corneal transplantation. Mr Hamada is an expert in performing corneal grafting in newborns and older children. He has a track record of successful corneal transplantation in small children as young as two weeks old.

Samer Hamada and Eye Clinic London enable patients to experience relief from their eye problems so they can focus on what matters most.
