What Are The Three Main Symptoms Of Cataracts?
According to research from the RNIB, more than six million people throughout the UK suffer from uncorrected refractive errors or sight-threatening conditions. Despite the staggering number, many of these people have yet to being experiencing symptoms. This is a significant cause for concern as many eye conditions may be reversed if detected by an experienced eye doctor in London early enough. One such condition is cataracts.
Fortunately, cataract symptoms are fairly easy to detect if you know what warning signs you should be on the lookout for. Everything is Blurry
Most cataracts tend to start out quite small in size. Despite this, even the smallest cataracts can begin to blur your vision enough for you to notice. Take note, however, that blurry vision may be caused by various circumstances (lack of sleep, etc.). If your vision remains blurry for a few weeks or so, it may be best to schedule an appointment with a respected eye doctor like Dr Samer Hamada.
Rings of Light
Cataracts, unfortunately, can distort the flow of light into the eye. This causes the light to diffract and results in the person with the cataract to see a ring or halo of light that envelops the light source whenever they look at a bright light. As you can probably imagine, such a symptom can be incredibly dangerous for those who need to drive at night since these rings of light can often be blinding.
It Was All Yellow
Over the course of time, the proteins that make up the cataract will start to develop a yellowish hue. When this happens, many people report noticing that the objects that they looked at started to take on a yellower appearance, similar to a photo filter or looking at something through yellow cellophane. Don’t worry though. Once the cataract is removed, that “yellow filter” will also disappear, restoring full colour to your vision.
