The cornea is extremely sensitive and if it scratched then healthy cells move over very quickly to cover the damage before an infection takes place and before vision is affected. However, if the injury is deep, the healing course can take much longer and can cause pain, tearing, blurry vision and redness amongst other side effects. It is also very important to see an eye doctor if you have a deeper corneal injury as it can cause scarring, impair vision and haze.
