Tears are crucial for easing the friction caused by blinking, washing dirt or debris from the eyes, fighting germs and keeping the lens clear.<\/li>\n<li>Meibomian Gland dysfunction or MGD contributes to increased evaporation of the tear film. This occurs due to a failure of Meibomian glands to secrete a sufficient amount of oil for providing the healthy tear film on the cornea.
