class=\"panel-body toggle-content fusion-clearfix\">\n<p>Cataracts are opaque, or cloudy, lenses in the eyes that should be otherwise transparent. It is a very common condition affecting vision. Over time, these cloudy patches grow, gradually affecting your sight and making daily tasks, including <a href=\"https:\/\/eyecliniclondon.com\/cataracts-and-driving\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">driving<\/a>, and reading very difficult. Cataracts may develop in only one eye, but they usually affect both. Most commonly, cataracts occur in older people and usually develop gradually.<\/p>\n<p>However, children and babies can be affected by cataracts too. The condition is more common than you may think, with around 300,000 cataract surgeries being performed in the UK each year.
